Answer:

  • 3 ft, 144 ft³

Step-by-step explanation:

Find the width as below

  • l² + w² + h² = d², where l- length, w- width, h- height, d- the distance between top and bottom corners

Substitute the values and solve for w

  • 4² + w² + 12² = 13²
  • w² + 160 = 169
  • w² = 9
  • w = 3 feet

Now find the volume

  • V = lwh
  • V = 4*3*12 = 144 ft³

The answer is (it can be curved) because it's doesn't have to cross the origin and it's a U shape so it can't look like a straight line and it doesn't have a constant rate of change. :)

Burka [1]
The answer is x=4.
set the equations up: 8x-5=6x-3
Subtract 6x from one side and then the other side 2x-5=3
Add 5 from one side and then the other 2x=8
Divide 2 on each side which gets you x=4

Oksana_A [137]
The better buy would be the 36 bottles of water for 4$ because it would be 9 bottles per dollar other than the 24 which is 8 bottles per every dollar. Hope it helps!
