Three million men, or nearly 10% of the population of the United States in 1860, belonged to the 15–30 age group.

What is the Economic Cost of American Civil War?

The estimated cost is about $3.3 billion, spent by both the government and the estimated human capital lost in the war was about $2.2 billion, and physical destruction was under $1.5 billion.

The total bill for the war came to about $7 billion—roughly two full years of GDP in 1860.

Considering the current state of the economy and what you know about monetary policy, do you think the Federal Reserve should in
tino4ka555 [31]

When interest rates are increased, borrowing money becomes more expensive. This translates into both individuals and buisnesses having to slow down their enconomic growth, because financing their activities or production also becomes more expensive.

The Federal Reserve has the double-task of keeping prices manageable in a flourishing economy while keeping unemployment as low as possible. When there's inflation, it's been proven that slowing down the economy by increasing interest rates, tends to reduce inflation. That's why it's a good option. We have to keep in mind, however, that this will raise unemployment as a collateral effect.

As you can see, there's no easy answer when it comes to balancing all factors at the same time.

Hope this helps!
