How and why did America and the Soviet Union emerge as the two leading military powers after WW2

I'm not 99% sure but I know they joined in together bc it was their best chance due to both of their over achieved military strength and how much territory they gained during the war, us also had no nuclear weapons at the end of the war to use so ofc they needed help.

The soviet union and many other countries
such as eastern Europe started to fall apart.
Which is why the cold war ended and it is
why both emerged as superpowers.
Another point: The U.S. emerged as the
world's main super power.
