Explain the relevant similarities and differences between the tenets of liberalism and conservatism.

Basically, explain the difference in beliefs/principles between <em>liberalism</em>, a philosophy based on protecting and making better the freedom of the individual, and <em>conservatism</em>, a philosophy based on sticking to old/traditional values and beliefs rather than change.
