This is false. James II wanted to create religious liberty for both English Roman Catholics and Protestant non-conformists. This went against the wishes of the government and meant that his 4 year reign was a struggle between the English Parliament and the Crown.
I think resistance is less effective than rebellion
People who enslave another human being did so for their own personal gain. Resisting the horrible treatment from these people would give them a sense of security for their behavior . Eventually their treatment to you would get worse over time since they think they can always get away with it.
