Most of the countries that exist today had long historical processes of formation of more than 300 years. However, its current composition is generally from the 20th century.

What is a country?

A country is a term to refer to a territory with its own geographical and cultural characteristics, which may or may not constitute a sovereign State or a political entity within a State. Generally, this term is used as a State, composed of a set of political institutions endowed with territory, population and sovereignty.

According to the above, it can be inferred that very few of the current countries were established in the 19th century, this is due to the fact that in Europe the processes of formation of the countries come from the Kingdoms of the Middle Ages and their modifications during the abolition of monarchy and establishment of empires.

Later, during the beginning of the 20th century, countries as we know them today were formed, but these had territorial and political modifications due to world wars and the disintegration of the Soviet Union.

In America, Oceania, part of Asia and Africa, the countries were colonies and later became independent. However, they have also had several political and territorial changes due to the internal dynamics of each of them that have led them to restructure their constitutions.

In general, very few countries that were founded during the 19th century maintain their political, territorial, cultural and social structure to the present day.
