If you were a Chinese migrating to Canada in the 1900s, describe how you would have felt living in Canada and why?
Alex

Answer: If I were a Chinese person moving to Canada in the 1900s, I would feel like an outsider in Canada.

Explanation: I would feel like an outsider because it's a completely different country altogether.  My traditions and beliefs would clash with Canadians.  I would most likely get treated differently because I'm of a different race than them.  However, it would give me certain freedoms that I didn't have in China, which would be a major advantage of migrating there.  Not to mention how sad it is to leave your home and go to a place you're unsure of.

Have a great day! :)

From "The Tyranny of Things" by Elizabeth Morris
yaroslaw [1]

Answer: B, I, J

Morris is inspired to seek a life free of things by her friend, who is able to keep a house and be at peace because of the minimalist approach she has towards it. She also feels inspired by the house by the beach. When she is inside, she feels an enormous sense of peace and tranquility, which she realizes is because of the emptiness of it. Finally, she also gains inspiration from the monks, who sit in white-walled cells in order to achieve enlightenment.
