The main message or purpose of the Declaration of Independence was to essentially urge the colonists to revolt by stating their natural rights. The Declaration of Independence states in its introductory "God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation"

According to its text, the Declaration of Independence conveys three main points: God created all men equal with the rights of, liberty, life, and the pursuit of happiness; the government is to protect these rights; if a government attempts to withdraw these right, the people have the right to revolt ("Declaration of Independence").

When the Declaration of Independence speaks of these “unalienable Rights,” such as it conveys in its main points, the authors of the Declaration of Independence are enforcing the belief of man's natural rights.
