Latin is an ancient Indo-European language of the Italic branch originally spoken in Latium, the region around the city of Rome. Latin is no longer used, simply because the Empire of Rome no longer exists.

Lingua Latina antiqua est Indo-Europea Italicae rami, quae in Latio, regione circa urbem Romam, locuta est.Lingua Latina non iam adhibetur, quia Imperium Romanum iam non est.

Mr. Whitten’s class is editing essays to include a more formal writing tone.
Darya [45]

The following should be eliminated to create a formal tone in writing:

1. Contractions- Contractions refer to short forms, that combine a long word, or two words into one word, by using an apostrophe. Examples of contractions include shortening "would not" to "wouldn't", "cannot" to "can't", and "should have" to "should've". Contractions should be avoided in formal writing, since they are generally used informally and conversationally.

2. Slang language- Slang language refers to the use of informal and colloquial language. For instance, if you use words such as "Yo", "Bro", "Turnt", "Fleek", etc. Slang language must be avoided in formal writing, so that it does not deter from the effectiveness and tone of the text.

3. Opinion statements- In formal writing, objectivity is key, thus, opinion statements- which are subjective in nature- must be avoided. An example of an opinion statement would be: "The research study indicated that toddler boys are more aggressive than girls. However, I disagree with these findings."

2. What minor rebellion happens among the animals, and how does Napoleon deal with it?
Mkey [24]
Napoleon acts swiftly by ordering the hens' food rations to be stopped and decrees that any animal caught giving the hens food will be punished by death. The hens hold out for five days until they eventually capitulate and return to their nesting boxes. Over the course of the five days, nine hens die of starvation.

Identify where a comma should be placed by choosing the word after which the comma should be placed. if there is no error, mark
nasty-shy [4]
The answer is:
______________
"no error".
________________
The comma is correctly placed before the conjunction "for"; and in this instance in which the word, "for", is used, a comma is necessary. No other part of the sentence needs—or requires—a comma, and there are no commas that are placed unnecessarily.
________________________________
As a side note, I would recommend that the first letter of the first word in the sentence: "Abbey", be capitalized, because:
________________________________
1) It is the first word at the beginning of the sentence; and:
2) It is someone's name, which is a proper noun.
__________________
I also recommend placing a "period" at the end of the sentence.
___________________________
To read:
___________
Abbey is most interested in learning how to mount her horse, for she already knows several things about dressage.
