Shad plan to give Jethro a good education. Also, he wants Jethro to take care of Jenny while he's gone.

What is the relationship between Jethro, Jenny, and Shad?

 • Jethro and Shad have a strong friendship.
 • Jenny and Shad care a lot for each other.
 • Jethro and Jenny are engaged.

Jethro needs to enlist to fight in the war. He doesn't want to do that, as he has many plans and wants to get married, but he can't escape the fight.

Before leaving, he tells Jenny that if he manages to return home, he and Jenny will get married and Shad will live with them, where he will receive a quality education.

He asks Shad to take care of Jenny while he's gone and to behave.

Which details reveal the setting of the passage? Check
leonid [27]

Answer:

"the north and the west are good hunting ground"

"it is forbidden to go east"

"it is there that there are the ashes of the Great Burning"

Explanation:

The excerpt from "By the Waters of Babylon"(short story) by Stephen Vincent Benet narrates John's journey to New York who is a young man initiated into the priesthood. The story occurs in a post-technological world where the priests scavenge the "dead places" for metal where John discovers the ruins and finds the technologies that he wishes to bring back to their people. Thus, the above details best compliment the setting of the passage i.e. post-apocalyptic.
