Antonin Dvorak is credited with establishing a distinctly American sound in classical music. What cultures’ music did he look to
in order to do this? What other groups of people within American society could he have drawn inspiration from? Think about specific areas of the country, what it is like to live there, or immigrant groups who have had an impact on our national culture.
The traditional Chinese culture includes: ancient prose, ancient poetry, words, music, fu, folk music, folk drama, folk art, traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy and so on. Chinese traditional culture is the general term of national civilization, custom and spirit. "Culture" is often defined as "different people have different opinions." To put it simply, Chinese traditional culture is mainly composed of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. They are interdependent, permeate and influence each other to construct the whole of Chinese traditional culture. These three traditional cultural thoughts are collectively called "three religions" in China.
Dvorak had been an admirer of Wagner's music since 1857. Around 1870, Dvorak created some of his most important works influenced by Wagner and Neoromanticism, such as the opera Alfred and string quartets in B-flat major, E minor, and D major.
