More than thousand of border ruffians crossed the border of Missouri to Kansas to show their support to the pro-slavery candidates in the election.

They voted by defrauding to their supporters, even the governor of Kansas left it unnoticed to avoid bloodshed. As the result out of 39 seats, 37 seats were won by the pro slavery supporting candidates.
