The Levallois technique was an important innovation because scientist believed that the flakes produced during the shaping of stone are predetermined shapes and sizes which can be used to make products that were small and easy to carry.

Levallois technology is the term used to describe the art of stone knapping used to create tools thousands of years ago.

This technique was seen as an innovative way of crafting tools because waste produced were later used as a means of carrying the tools.

This was evident in the archeological record across Eurasia about 200 to 300 thousand years ago and appeared earlier in Africa.
