Answer:

Even in the not-officially-segregated North, there was often a wide gulf between the color-blindness of the American dream and the racial discrimination in daily life, which, early in their lives, crushed the aspirations and dashed the hopes of promising young black Americans. In this story (published in 1941), celebrated poet, novelist, and playwright Langston Hughes (1902–67) describes such an incident in the life of a talented and proud American high school student, Nancy Lee Johnso.

What is the speaker’s purpose and viewpoint in “Acres of Diamonds”?
slava [35]

Considered by many to be one of the finest speeches ever written, Acres of Diamonds offers a multitude of lessons about the rewards of work, education, and finding the riches of life in one's own back yard.

In an era when many Americans would pack public halls to hear speeches given by the greatest citizens of their day, Russell Conwell read his world-famous lecture hundreds of times, and used the income he earned delivering it to found a small seminary to train Baptist ministers. That school soon grew into Temple University, one of the first universities to offer affordable education to working-class Americans: it stands today as the most visible example of Russell Conwell's legacy and vision

Hope this helped

What is English Literature??
Nutka1998 [239]
In its broadest definition, 'English literature' is the entire body of works
written in the English language during the past 1400 years by inhabitants
of England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.

It's a terrific depiction of the evolution of English culture, society, and ethics
and morals, which are actually the basis for civilization in a large part of the
world today.

Vonnegut uses satire to expose which societal
Tasya [4]

Answer:

I believe it's the last one.

Explanation:

One needs to look now farther than the first paragraph to realize that Vonnegut's tale is laced with irony and satire.  The strongest hint is when he mentions that there are over 100 ammendments in the Constitution.  All these ammendments are designed to make society "perfect."  Later on George and his wife Hazel are discussing how George's handicaps, the bags of birdshot tied to his legs, are terribly inconvenient and painful.  Hazel suggests George break a law and remove the bags since he isn't competing against anyone at home.  George replies that if he broke the law so would others and they'd end up right back in the "Dark Ages".  These examples depict there is no such thing as a perfect society.  Equality does not bring about perfection and competition is essential for a thriving economy.  In every society there are winners and losers.

Sorry if i'm wrong.
