2)industries and people who work in those industries feel pain when they have to compete with industries abroad, causing the industry to lose at home
3) the benefits are a stronger industry locally and more national security (since you don’t have to fear about restrictions on products from abroad), cons are more expensive products and potentially worse products due to less competition (an example is baby formula which can have higher quality abroad and can be cheaper in other countries, sometimes due to subsidies within those foreign countries). These higher costs can be taken out n by every level from families that have to pay for higher food costs to governments
