The Glass Castle is a memoir written by Jeannette Walls in 2005. Jeannette encounters two difficulties at Welch Elementary School. One of them is that the people are close-minded. This is illustrated when she first met the principal, and they cannot understand each other's accent, so he considers she has learning disabilities and sends her to a classroom for slower children.
