Answer:

823

<u>Method 1</u>

Break the three numbers into hundreds, tens and units, then add these separately (starting with the units)

197 = 1 hundred, 9 tens, 7 units

203 = 2 hundreds, 0 tens, 3 units

423 = 4 hundreds, 2 tens, 3 units

Units: 7 + 3 + 3 = 13

Tens: 9 + 2 = 11 tens = 110

Hundreds: 1 + 2 + 4 = 7 hundreds = 700

Add these together: 700 + 110 + 13 = 823

<u>Method 2</u>

First add 203 to 197:

Borrow the 3 from 203 and add it to 197:  197 + 3 = 200

Add the remaining 200:  200 + 200 = 400

Now add 423 to 400:  400 + 423 = 823

⇒ 203 + 197 + 423 = (203 + 197) + 423

                                = 400 + 423

                                = 823

823

Method two:

Add the hundreds first:

100+200+400=700

Then add the tens:

700+90+20=810

Then add the 1s:

810+7+3+3=823

Assume that the Poisson distribution applies and that the mean number of aircraft accidents is 9 per month. Find P(0), the prob
Ugo [173]

Answer: 0.0001

It is unlikely to have a month with no aircraft accidents .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given :  Mean number of aircraft accidents = 9 per month

The Poisson distribution formula :-

\dfrac{e^{-\lambda}\lambda^x}{x!}, where \lambda is the mean of the distribution.

If X = the number of aircraft accidents per month, then the probability that in a month, there will be no aircraft accidents will be :-

\dfrac{e^{-9}(9)^0}{0!}=0.000123409804087\approx0.0001

Hence, the probability that in a month, there will be no aircraft accidents = 0.0001

Since this is less than 0.5 , therefor it is unlikely to have a month with no aircraft accidents .
