As technology advances, more work can be done outside of the traditional workplace and at any time of the day. This has led some

people to advocate “work-life blending”—the seamless integration of work and private life—as an ideal way of balancing personal fulfillment with professional goals. Others, however, claim that this approach has begun to erode employees’ personal lives. Carefully read the following six sources, including the introductory information for each source. Then synthesize material from at least three of the sources and incorporate it into a coherent, well-written essay in which you develop your position on the extent to which there is value in work-life blending. Source A (Friedman) Source B (Fraser-Thill) Source C (Ashkenas) Source D (Gallup poll) Source E (Stillman) Source F (Chart) In your response you should do the following: Respond to the prompt with a thesis that may establish a line of reasoning. Provide evidence from at least 3 of the provided sources to support your thesis. Indicate clearly the sources used through direct quotation, paraphrase, or summary. Sources may be cited as Source A, Source B, etc., or by using the description in parentheses. Explain the relationship between the evidence and your thesis. Demonstrate an understanding of the rhetorical situation. Use appropriate grammar and punctuation in communicating your argument.

The question above is intended to assess your writing and arguing ability. For that reason, I cannot write your essay, but I will show you how to write it.

Steps to writing the essay

 • Introduction: Introduce the subject that will be covered in the essay and then show your thesis statement. The thesis statement is your opinion on the subject. This will be your main argument.

 • Body: Write at least two paragraphs. In the first paragraph, you will defend your thesis statement by showing evidence, taken from the research sources you have read, that prove that the thesis is correct. In the second paragraph, you will show a contrary argument and show evidence that shows how this argument is incorrect.

 • Conclusion: Summarize the entire essay in a way that strengthens the thesis statement.

Which statement best describes why Lincoln declares that slavery is an offense to God?
ikadub [295]

The correct answer is the statement that reads: “Lincoln argues that the war is a punishment to both the North and South for allowing slavery to exist for so long, reminding the Northerners not to put all the blame on the South”. Near the end of the Civil War, Lincoln delivered his Second Inaugural Address (1865) and he argued that the conflict that was happening (Civil War) was an offence to God and a “divine” punishment for the sin of slavery that both the North and South have tolerated. In his speech, one can spot Lincoln’s argument when he says: “If we shall suppose that American slavery is one of those offenses which, in the providence of God, must needs come, but which, having continued through His appointed time, He now wills to remove, and that He gives to both North and South this terrible war as the woe due to those by whom the offense came, shall we discern therein any departure from those divine attributes which the believers in a living God always ascribe to Him?”.
