Which detail from Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass best supports the idea that those who cite religion to support sla

very are hypocrites?
"If the lineal descendants of Ham are alone to be scripturally enslaved, it is certain that slavery at the south must soon become unscriptural; for thousands are ushered into the world, annually, who, like myself, owe their existence to white fathers, and those fathers most frequently their own masters."

"The master is frequently compelled to sell this class of his slaves, out of deference to the feelings of his white wife."

"For when their day's work in the field is done, the most of them having their washing, mending, and cooking to do, and having few or none of the ordinary facilities for doing either of these, very many of their sleeping hours are consumed in preparing for the field the coming day; and when this is done, old and young, male and female, married and single, drop down side by side, on one common bed,—the cold, damp floor,—each covering himself or herself with their miserable blankets; and here they sleep till they are summoned to the field by the driver's horn."

"No words, no tears, no prayers, from his gory victim, seemed to move his iron heart from its bloody purpose. The louder she screamed, the harder he whipped; and where the blood ran fastest, there he whipped longest. He would whip her to make her scream, and whip her to make her hush; and not until overcome by fatigue, would he cease to swing the blood-clotted cowskin."

docker41 [41]

Answer and Explanation:

She looked beautiful, it was her wedding day. Everything was ready for a wonderful occasion, only one thing, where was the groom? All of a sudden there was a bang at the door... She startled, inhaling sharply, thoughts racing through her mind. It was probably her mother, maybe her sister, coming to let her know he had changed his mind and fled. Her imagination ran wild, picturing him at an airport, buying a last-minute ticket to God knows where, leaving her behind to face, all alone, the shame of having been left on her wedding day.

She finally opened the door, hands and legs shaking. It was indeed her mother, but there was something soothing about the expression on her face. He was running late, but he was on his way. Something had happened, a problem with the car, perhaps a flat tire. She inhaled again, deeply and steadily this time. She couldn’t help but laugh at her own desperation, at how quickly she had jumped to conclusions. Was this not the man she loved? The one she had chosen to spend the rest of her life with? Didn’t he deserve more trust than this? Her mother smiled gently. It was normal to be this nervous; and nervous people think in absurd ways. She laughed again.

The time finally came for her to walk down that beautifully ornamented aisle. She was still too nervous to look directly at anyone, but too happy to not sense their smiles, their eyes walking with her, slowly, toward him. Her groom reached out to hold her trembling hands, his own as shaky as hers, and kissed her sweetly on the left cheek. A brand new life was ahead of them. It would be a life of companionship, of growing old together, of caring more about the other than about the self.

Note: I got a bit carried away, so there are around 300 words. Feel free to remove anything you find unnecessary.
