Personification: “…and the dreaded day turns brown and mean.”

Explanation: A simile is when the word “like” is used to compare two things. A metaphor is when two things are compared without the use of “like;” oftentimes they can be identified by the two things which are compared being unrelated. Personification is when human traits are applied to concepts, inanimate objects, etc.
