Hercules became famous yet his own girlfriend poisoned him, is the detail from "The Monk's Tale" that best demonstrates that Fortune is a "blind prosperity" that no one should trust. Hercules trusted in his strength and popularity, however he was weak with his girlfriend, which is why she poisoned him. Therefore, this demonstrates how his fortune (fame) blinded Hercules to the point in which his girlfriend poisoned him.
