To name a line segment, for instance AB we write it as simply AB and draw a line on top of it. A and B are the points in the middle of which the line segment lies. It can be shown as figure 1

And to write the name of a line, we also write it as AB but the line on the top of this AB will have arrows on both ends as shown in figure 2
