The biggest worry of Kavaloff, after his nose disappeared was that he would not get the attention of the people. He feared that this would result in his loss of the position of the collegiate assessor. He becomes conscious of his appearance and was worried that he might lose the interest of the ladies. The Kavaloff's nose got separated from him as it wanted to establish his position and also he wanted to stand separately.
