North Africa has three main geographic features: the Sahara desert in the south, the Atlas Mountains in the west, and the Nile River and delta in the east. The Atlas Mountains extend across much of northern Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.
There were several immediate actions that were most likely taken in the Hawaiian islands to prevent the loss of life as the tsunami approached. Some of the immediate actions would of been to sound the alarms for the residents of the area, move to higher ground, and broadcast radio and television bulletins to alert the people. Ships would of also needed to be moved away from the coast.
