2. Why was it important to examine both the colour and the streak of your minerals?

Answer: Because the surface colour of individual minerals can vary considerably but the streak colour is vertually constant & is therefore more characteristic of the mineral.

3. Is lustre a good characteristic to use for the

identification of minerals? Why or why not?

Answer: Lustre can vary within a particular

mineral - calcite might be vitreous or it may be

dull. Using lustre for identity often requires a

fresh surface if the mineral in anyway oxidises.

4. You have been given a sample of quartz, which has a hardness of 7. How can you use this mineral to determine the hardness of other minerals?

Answer: If the quartz can scratch another mineral, you know that mineral has a hardnessof less than 7. If the quartz is scratched by another mineral, you know that mineral has a hardness of greater than 7.

6. Which property or properties did you find most useful in the identification of the mineral samples? Which properties were less useful? Be specific in your explanation.

Answer: The most useful is hardness, fracture, cleavage, streak & sometimes crystal habit. The least useful is colour.

What kingdom did Charlemagne establish after the pope crowned him as emperor? A. the Ottoman Empire B. the Byzantine Empire C. t
Umnica [9.8K]

Answer:

C. Holy Roman Empire

Explanation:

Charlemagne was the dominant and most powerful figure in Europe during his lifetime. He lived in the early Middle Ages, and was ruling over most of Western and Central Europe. Charlemagne was the King of the Franks, and he was also a person that was very religious and had close thighs with Rome and the Pope, often coming to the assistance of the Pope if there were some dangers. Apart from being the King of the Franks, Charlemagne got another title, Holy Roman Emperor, after he was crowned by the Pope himself. That move was of great political and strategic importance for both sides, as Rome secured itself the strongest protector in the region, while Charlemagne got a title that made his authority even greater.

Cuối thế kỷ XX những hình thức tổ chức sản xuất nào đã cứu nhiều ngành công nghiệp của Mỹ tránh được tình trạng thua lỗ
Valentin [98]

Answer:

The American economy in the 20th decade of the twentieth century: Prosperous development but still has limitations.

The prosperity of the US economy is reflected in the high growth rate of economic sectors. In just 6 years (1923-1929), industrial output increased by 69%. In 1929, the United States accounted for 48% of world industrial output, surpassing the industrial output of the five industrial powers of Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Japan combined. The United States leads the world in the manufacturing of automobiles, steel, oil, etc. In particular, the boom of the automobile industry has had a strong impact on other industries. In 1919, the United States produced 7 million cars, by 1924 it reached 24 million.

In terms of finance, from having to borrow $ 6 billion from Europe before the war, the US has become a creditor of the world (only Britain and France owe the US $ 10 billion). In 1929, the United States held 60% of the world's gold reserves.

Despite high growth rates, even in these prosperous times, many American industries use only 60-80% of capacity. Economic development driven by profit, excessive liberalism has led to asynchronous development between industries, between industry and agriculture, and there is no long-term plan for the balance. between production and consumption.
