In Ernest Hemingway’s “In Another Country,” why does the major most likely stay away from the hospital for three days?
Mkey [24]

In Ernest Hemingway’s “In Another Country,” the major most likely stays away from the hospital for three days to mourn the death of his wife.

The major was very scornful towards doctors due to the fact that his injuries were not cured by them and he is skeptical about the fact that machines will succeed in curing the three soldiers who Nick befriended.

The short story “In Another Country,” is about an ambulance corps member in Milan during World War I.

Read the excerpt from Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby.
Rainbow [258]

Answer:

The story's conflict will be based on wealth and appearances.

Explanation:

The main character lives in West Egg, in a small, comfortable, but not very nice-looking house. However, he feels just fine there.

However, he himself declares that the story will only unfold once he visits the wealthier, and more fashionable East Egg, and for that reason, we can say that the conflict of the story will based on wealth and appearances.

What connotation do glared and gulped have
elena55 [62]
Okay so, connotation is what kind of feeling the word gives off. So, when you hear someone glared at someone, what do you picture in your mind? Probably someone staring at someone fiercely or in an angry way, right? That's the connotation. When you hear someone gulped something down, you probably picture them drinking it like it's the last drink they're ever going to get. This is the connotation. So, glared gives an intense or angry feeling and gulped gives a quick and desperate feeling. Hope this helps!
