A dependent clause  is one that needs no additional information to communicate meaning. The dependent and independent clauses are indicated as categorized below.

Dependent clause:

1) Even though they were exhausted from their long day,

2) to name just a few of his contributions to science

3) which is being taught at the community center this winter

4) After a huge victory last week

Independent clause:

1) the seventh graders held a dance that night, and the wight graders saw a play.  

2) Isaac Newton described the relationship between force, mass, and acceleration and he made discoveries in optics and mathematic,

3) Nikki has leaned some computer coding, but she also wants to study graphic design,

4) ...the Jayhawks are a favorite in today's game, so a trip to the playoffs could be in their future.

I believe the printing press.  Before the printing press books were very rare and expensive.  Most religious scrolls were put on cloth or papyrus(a type of plant).  After the invention of the printing press it made books less rare and expensive.  And launched the world into a more modern era.
