The time that would elapse before a robot at a distance see the light flash is : 2000 secs

Analysis of the solution

Given data :

Distance = 4 AU

Time for light to reach the earth = 8 mins 20 seconds

speed of light ( c ) = 299,792,458 m / s

To resolve this we will apply the equation below

Time = Distance / Speed ------ ( 1 )

where : Distance= 4 AU, speed = c

Therefore :

Time = 4 AU / c

AU / c = ( 8 * 60 + 20)

Hence the time that would elapse before a robot at a distance see the light flash will be

Time = 4 ( 8*60 + 20) = 2000 secs
