Answer: The government of Sudan has a history of instability and shifting between military and civilian rule. It is an authoritarian government, but in recent years, more rights are being allowed. In recent years, multiple political parties have taken part in elections, and a referendum vote was held in which voters decided to split the nation in two. Currently, the president holds most of the power, and a vice president was elected to represent the rights of those in the southern part of the state. Violence in the Darfur region is ongoing, causing significant loss of life. This is a country that is changing rapidly. People in Sudan have few democratic rights. There have been charges that elections are not free, nor fair. Opposition leaders to the ruling government have been jailed. There is little freedom of speech or freedom of press.

But the situation on the ground is far from settled. The south's secession has strained north-south relations and sparked clashes over contested territories such as Abyei. In addition, negotiators have so far been unable to agree on many points of shared economic and political policy to implement after partition.</span>

NOAA's Office for Coastal Management maintains a detailed online interactive mapping tool called Historical Hurricane Tracks at www.coast.noaa.gov/hurricanes. This tool offers users the ability to search and display global tropical cyclone data. The information can also be downloaded in widely-used GIS data formats.

Satellites, reconnaissance aircraft, Ships, buoys, radar, and other land-based platforms are important tools used in hurricane tracking and prediction. While a tropical cyclone is over the open ocean, remote measurements of the storm's intensity and track are made primarily via satellites.

The subsoil is mainly mineral particles, with much less organic material. The fragmented rock/bedrock is primarily small stones, and beneath it lies all bedrock.
