Explanation:

The planets Mercury and Venus , present inside the Earth's orbit appears to move with smaller  epicycle sizes than the planets outside the orbit of the Earth i.e. , Mars , Saturn and Jupiter .

Therefore , the planets Mercury and Venus sometimes appears between the Planet Earth and the Sun .

For planets , Mars , Saturn and Jupiter , the epicycle orbits are much larger and is centered around the sun .

Therefore , these planets appear on the other side of the Earth from the sun and never between the earth and the Sun .
