There are many human activities that affect water quality. The use of fertilizer is a major one because it pollutes waters when it is collected by runoff and flows to bodies of water.

Its a open question. but we make alot of dirty sewage water, which goes into the rivers. we make islands of plastic in the oceans. Its mostly what ever we do, something gets put into the water.
