The correct option is D

Large contingents of immigrants from Europe participated in the occupation of the vast west of the United States and without them this achievement would not take place. To attract immigrants, the US government UU decreed in 1862, the Homestead Act, which defines the ownership of a property of 65 hectares to those who cultivate it for five years. Anyone who had never taken up arms against the US government. The US, including freed slaves, could file a claim for a federal land grant.

Why were education reforms needed in the mid 1800s
pogonyaev
The education reformation was aimed to getting more kids educated. Books like Huckleberry Finn were based on times where getting a formal education was very rare. Working moved from fields and into the factories which required the education to be more prominent. They wanted equal education for all, improve schools, and require students to attend. To do this, they opened more schools, enrolled more students, motivated both teachers and students, bettered the curriculum, admitted women into some colleges, extended the school year, increased teacher's salaries, introduced new teaching methods, and enriched the curriculum. This upped the literacy rate, created major reforms of all kinds, and improved our entire education system all around.
