The “natural rights” referred to by Paine were first expressed by John Locke.

What are natural rights?

The rights that all humans are granted just because they are human are called Natural rights. They are  moral that applies to all cultures and societies, and they are unaffected by political legislation

These natural rights include the right to preserve life and save life. This encourages the right to protect against people who try to harm, this is considered as self-defense.

These natural rights include having a family and earning money to feed them. There will be no government interference in the formation of family or earning of money for their living.

Natural rights also promote rights of religion under which every individual is free to practice the religion he believed in. They are also free to own property that reflects their capabilities in society.
