On January, 1917, Zimmermann sent an encripted telegram to the German ambassador in Washington, Johann Von Bernstorff, so that, in turn, this will send to the German ambassador in Mexico, Heinrich von Eckardt. In this telegram Germany offers to the Mexican president Venustiano Carranza a military alliance, in order to Germany would provide to Mexico all the supplies for a war with the US, to recover the territories that this county took from Mexico through 1848 Guadalupe-Hidalgo, that puts end to the war in both countries.
