The US constitution was indeed a product of the enlightenment.
How?
Well, the enlightenment was named for the era in history where scholars started coming with new ideas, particularly, democratic ideas.
John Locke's (a guy involved in the enlightenment whom supported democratic ideals) ideas is what our constitution is based on today.
The country was in pretty bad shape, and people were desperate to find a great leader who would help put the country back into good shape. It didn't matter who it was, as long as they promised to do things to change the country, and people just went with that because of how desperate they were.
