Why does the host answer the guest with brief responses during the party?
kumpel [21]

Answer:

Because the host discovered it was futile to keep talking with the guest.

Explanation:

This is a very common behavior after the subject identifies a strong limitation between dialogue. It points out ignorance or the lack of ability to observe a phenomenom from a different perspective. Therefore it is very difficult to create a debate without any bias between both. It is frustrating because the person unable to analyze the phenomenom from another perspective will die to let you know that he or she is correct. But it is because of his or her inability to see the event far away from his or her centered point of view.

"as Kenneth sat down on the rickety old chair, it abruptly collapsed beneath him" what kind if sentence is this
EastWind [94]

Answer:

It is a complex sentence.

Explanation:

There are  four basic types of sentences: simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex.

A complex sentence has one independent clause joined to a dependent clause by a subordinating conjunction.

An independent clause has a subject and a predicate, and can stand alone as a sentence, as it makes complete sense.  A dependent clause cannot stand alone.

In this case, "Kenneth sat down on the rickety old chair" is an example of an independent clause.  "as it abruptly collapsed beneath him" is a dependent clause.

In this section Route 66, the author points out that a new car cost only twice as much as a round-trip transcontinental flight.
garik1379 [7]

A Route 66 road trip is a driving adventure along what is probably the most famous road in the world. Historic Route 66 spans over 2,400 miles and crosses 8 states, starting in Chicago, Illinois and terminating at the Pacific Coast in Santa Monica, California. Given its “66” designation in 1926, it became a well-traveled highway, bringing together people from all walks of life.

John Steinbeck would refer to Route 66 as “the mother road, the road of flight” for those trying to escape the Dust Bowl and ravages of the Great Depression in the 1930’s. Later it would support a countless number of vacationing families from the Midwest heading to the Grand Canyon or Disneyland. As more Americans took to the highway, a roadside culture would spring up along Route 66—motels, diners, gas stations, tourist attractions—to cater to a population that was increasingly mobile.
