The one i am going to discuss among the 6 Discoveries in Infancy is Discovery 6 : Imitation.

What is Discovery 6about?

Discovery 6 is known to be the steps in infancy where a child is said to learn about how Imitation influences one's action.

In this step, in the first two years of life, the infant is known to be very good at imitating others and as such, My thought is that parents and siblings of the child need to mindful of what they do or say in their presence.

Note that Imitation is said to be a very essential learning skill and as such a child in his or her early stage of life do imitate their own behaviors and they also mimic things they see, from body activity to others.

A laughable experience is that my brother always hear my Dad calling my Mum "my Honey, my beautiful wife. My brother ends up calling my mother the same for a while and would not stop if ask to or corrected as he believes it was right and he only stopped when he grew pass that stage. Therefore one should know and understand that power of imitation is strong and can influence a child positively or negatively.

Help! I am confused on this psychology assignment. Please help with the following question. Is the question talking about motive
kiruha [24]

Yes. I would probably put actions along with each of these.

1. Physiological needs - these are biological requirements for human survival, e.g. air, food, drink, shelter, clothing, warmth, sex, sleep.

If these needs are not satisfied the human body cannot function optimally. Maslow considered physiological needs the most important as all the other needs become secondary until these needs are met.

2. Safety needs - protection from elements, security, order, law, stability, freedom from fear.

3. Love and belongingness needs - after physiological and safety needs have been fulfilled, the third level of human needs is social and involves feelings of belongingness. The need for interpersonal relationships motivates behavior

Examples include friendship, intimacy, trust, and acceptance, receiving and giving affection and love. Affiliating, being part of a group (family, friends, work).

4. Esteem needs - which Maslow classified into two categories: (i) esteem for oneself (dignity, achievement, mastery, independence) and (ii) the desire for reputation or respect from others (e.g., status, prestige).

Maslow indicated that the need for respect or reputation is most important for children and adolescents and precedes real self-esteem or dignity.

5. Self-actualization needs - realizing personal potential, self-fulfillment, seeking personal growth and peak experiences. A desire “to become everything one is capable of becoming”
