The aim of tragedy, Aristotle writes, is to bring about a "catharsis" of the spectators — to arouse in them sensations of pity and fear, and to purge them of these emotions so that they leave the theater feeling cleansed and uplifted, with a heightened understanding of the ways of gods and men.

Purpose:

According to Aristotle, the function of tragedy is to arouse pity and fear in the audience so that we may be purged, or cleansed, of these unsettling emotions. Aristotle's term for this emotional purging is the Greek word catharsis.

Tragedies serve to present moral lessons, entertain audiences, or both. Historically speaking, audiences have loved tragedies and the dramatic genre continues to be popular in our contemporary times. Tragedies function to provide audiences with a sense of catharsis which gives us a sense of relief of pent-up emotions.

Which best describes an action appropriate to the prewriting stage of writing a letter to the editor?
ella [17]
The option that best describes an action appropriate to the prewriting stage of writing a letter to the editor is sending your resume and an application to the editor.
An editor is responsible for taking a look at your resume and application - the editor's job is to go through such papers and see if there are any grammatical mistakes, vocabulary mistakes, or anything like that, and to prepare your papers to be read by an employer.
