D. Diffusion occurs when one aspect of a culture is spread from one society to another, and appropriation occurs when cultures adopt the customs of other cultures for their own benefit.

The cultural diffusion and appropriation have become more common than ever in the last centuries, this is partly because of the constant improvement of technology in transportation, social media, and globalization. To better understand these concepts, here are some examples:

In the Capital of Buenos Aires, a southern Latin-American city, there's a Chinatown whereby mostly people of Chinese origin have spread their culture (Food, drinks, decoration, traditions, language, and art) to the Argentinian population for years, in consequence, Argentinians get to know, have an opinion and enjoy a very different culture from theirs. This is what we called Diffusion.

Argentinians have also received the influence of the American culture, not only from their language as they have adopted some words in English but also from some of the characteristics of their celebration. For instance, Argentinians have adopted the American version of the Santa Claus character as theirs as well, and they also tend to celebrate the American celebration of Hollywood as North Americans do, they have appropriated of many of their customs. This is Appropriation.
