Jan Quint earns $7.00 an hour at her job and is entitled to time-and-a-half for overtime, and double time on holidays. Last week
nataly862011 [7]
Jan Quint earned $542.5 last week.

If she worked 40 regular hours than we must multiply 40 by 7.

40 * $7.00 = $280

Now we need to find how much she earned for her 9 hours of overtime. For overtime she gets paid her normal pay plus half of her normal pay. So $7 + $3.5 = $10.5 So for each hour of overtime she gets paid $10.5

9 * $10.5 = $94.5

Next we need to find out how much she earned for her 12 hours of holiday time. She gets paid double for holiday time which is $7*2 = $14. So for each hour of holiday time she gets paid $14

12 * $14 = $168

Lastly we need to add all those earnings together to find out how much she earned that whole week with verything included.

$280 + $94.5 + $168 = $542.5

aalyn [17]
2 1/2 + 4 1/4 = 6 3/4

6 3/4 = 27/4

54\div \frac{27}{4} = 54\times \frac{4}{27} = 2 \times 4 = 8

So Naomi earned $8 per hour that she mows the lawn.
