Osmosis is the process by which solvent particles flow from a dilute solution to one that is more concentrated. Diffusion, in contrast, is the transfer of particles from a region of higher concentration to one of lower concentration.

What are the differences and similarities between osmosis and diffusion?

Differences:

  • While osmosis describes the process by which water, or other solvents, flow through a semipermeable membrane, leaving other bits of matter in its path, diffusion involves molecules in a high concentration area moving to areas with a low concentration. As an illustration, oxygen diffuses into red blood cells, and salt placed outside a cell would osmotically suck the water out of the cell, drying it.
  • Molecular size and electric charge affect how quickly molecules diffuse through a membrane. Instead of the type of molecule on either side of the membrane, osmosis is dependent on particle concentration.

Similarities:

  • As passive processes, diffusion and osmosis don't require energy to take place.

balu736 [363]

Answer:

The following punnet square would be constructed from the above mentioned cross:

        b b

B Bb Bb

B Bb Bb

A punnet square can be described as a diagram which is made to illustrate the outcomes of a cross.

The results from the above punnet square show that the offsprings produced from a cross between homozygous blue and brown parent, will all have blue feathers but they all will be heterozygous for the trait.

The answer is most likely the second choice. All answer choices could be possible, but in light of the others the second choice is far too specific, and there is no information in the prompt to even indicate that as a plausible answer choice.
