Dr. Ruiz, a doctor from Spain, is conversing with the Bodega family about living a healthy life. He asks them various questions
solniwko [45]

This question is incomplete, here´s the complete question.

Dr. Ruiz, a doctor from Spain, is conversing with the Bodega family about living a healthy life. He asks them various questions about their lifestyles, and to his delight they answer in the affirmative to every question. Write their answers using the acabar de + infinitive construction.

Modelo:

A los niños: ¿Os cepilláis los dientes todos los días?

Sí, acabamos de cepillarnos los dientes.

Dr. Ruiz: (a toda la familia) ¿Coméis el desayuno todos los días?

Señora Bodega: Sí, _____________

Dr. Ruiz: (a Juanito) ¿Te bañas todos los días?

Juanito: Sí, __________

Dr. Ruiz: (a la señora Bodega) ¿Toman mucha agua los niños?

Señora Bodega: Sí, __________________

Answer:

Dr. Ruiz: (a toda la familia) ¿Coméis el desayuno todos los días?

Señora Bodega: Sí, acabamos de comer el desayuno. (Yes, we just had breakfast).

Dr. Ruiz: (a Juanito) ¿Te bañas todos los días?

Juanito: Sí, me acabo de bañar. (Yes, I just took a bath).

Dr. Ruiz: (a la señora Bodega) ¿Toman mucha agua los niños?

Señora Bodega: Sí, acaban de tomar agua. (Yes, they just drank water).

Explanation:

In Spanish, we use the verbal structure 'acabar de + verbo' to talk about something that has just been done that or that happened very recently.

There must be concordance with the subject of the sentence:

Toda la familia (nosostros): nosotros acabamos de...

Los niños (ellos): Sí, ellos acaban de...

Juanito (yo): yo acabo de...

In this last example, the word "me" must be added before "acabo" to fit the requirement of using the infinitive form of the verb. However, it could also be included after de verb (bañarme).

hey, how do I know when to put the adjective after the noun because there are some where the adjective comes before.
Sliva [168]

Hey there! I'm happy to help!

Most of the time, the adjective comes after the noun in Spanish. There are a few exceptions. Anything that clarifies a number or amount goes before a noun. This can be numbers or words like more, less, much, some, enough, too much, sufficient, etc.

A very important quality that must be known about a noun is usually put before the noun. For example, if you want to say sweet tea, you would say dulce té, not té dulce. The first means the actually type of tea called sweet tea, while the latter means any tea that is sweet. However, it's always better to put the adjective after the noun if you are not completely sure if the adjective is essential or not.

There are also some adjectives that change form when put before a noun to give it a different meaning. For example, grande. If you say río grande, that means the big river. If you put grande before a noun, it becomes gran and it now means great. Espero que tengas un gran día means I hope you have a great day. There are some other ones like this, and there's only around 15 common words that change like this, and you will usually be able to spot them.

I hope that this helps! Have a wonderful day! :D
