As India enters the 21st century, the aspects of Indian life that could be attributed to britain’s influence over this former colony is "a weak infrastructure and poverty".

What is meant by weak infrastructure?

The fundamental infrastructure of a nation, society, or organization consists of things like roads, communications, power sources, and structures.

Poor infrastructure is caused by a number of issues, including a

 • lack of funding or funding shortages,
 • inadequate supplies of resources for development,
 • ineffective labor practices for development, and
 • inadequate repair and upkeep.

What is meant by poverty?

Lack of resources to meet necessities like food, clothing, and shelter constitutes poverty. But poverty goes far beyond simply not having enough money.

According to the World Bank Organization, hunger is a defining characteristic of poverty. Absence of shelter is poverty.

Some reason for weak infrastructure and poverty when India enters the 21st century are-

 • Throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries, numerous vicious cycles of famines and epidemics claimed the lives of millions of people.
 • Famine-related mass deaths were stopped after 1947, when India attained independence.
 • Since 1991, India's extreme poverty has significantly decreased as a result of strong economic progress.
