The excerpt that is a simile that indicates a thoughtful mood is “I swear she cast a shadow white as stone.

<h3>What is a mood in  “I Knew a Woman.” ?</h3>

Mood  is known to be a term that is often used in music and this is seen as the total or overall feeling that the song or a person has in regards to  music that makes them  to feel.

Note that based on the except, a thoughtful mood is known to be one that is nice and has been thought through before it is expressed.

The thoughtful mood such as “I swear she cast a shadow white as stone as shown in the fourth (4) line shows that  he recounted the epiphany that he had seen while he was reading the poem.
