Some personal experiences and challenges I have faced when planning resources include poor capacity, poor assessment, poor skill sets, unrealistic goals and timelines, and unanticipated problems.

Resource planning involves strategizing the best way to allocate resources so that optimum outcome is attained, targets are achieved, and prudence in allocation is ensured.

Many challenges arise when planning resources. One is the weak capacity to deliver on a target or to optimally use the funds. Another is the poor assessment of risks, wherein certain risks are often overlooked.

Skills are essential to successfully execute a project. Under-skilled human resources can be a hindrance. Often, targets are unrealistic, which leads to constant underperformance. Unforeseen contingencies can also interfere with resource planning.
