The reason why Ralph Lemkin felt the need to create a new term to define crimes against humanity and civilization was to make the world aware of how serious the crime of mass murder was.

The new term he created which was "genocide" made people aware of how it was an international crime to target a certain group for extermination and it has been widely used since.

What did Ralph Lemkin do?

Ralph Lemkin was the man who was responsible for coming up with the term, "genocide" which was to describe the crime against humanity of deliberately targeting an ethnic group for extinction.

It was first used to describe the murder of 6 million Jews by the Nazi Germans as they tried to rid the world of the Jewish race.

Now, the word "genocide" carries such a heavy implication that when it is used, people pay attention because it has been used to describe some of the worst mass murdering incidents in human history such as the Rwandan Genocide.

What was the main reason the Persians went to war with greece
Snezhnost [94]

Answer:

The conflict began after Athens and Eretria gave assistance to the Ionians in their rebellion against Persia and its ruler, Darius. Although Darius was able to secure the loyalty of many Greek city-states, both Sparta and Athens executed his ambassadors rather than give up independence.
