The Jazz Singer, in the original 1927 production, was significant not only for the use of synchronized sound but also dialogues.

It utilized the operatic vision of a frequent musical motif as a unifying dramatic piece. It starred the central amusement formation of that time, Al Jolson.  

First "talkie" movie (with voices and sound). Warner Bros was the producer of the picture. Conducted in the talkie era of films, the sound is not restricted to background music anymore.

It is the first feature-length motion picture with both synchronized recorded music scores and lip-synchronous singing and speech.

Its release predicted the saleable ascendance of sound films and practically marked the end of the silent film era.
