True, the vitreous humor is a clear, watery fluid that helps maintain the intraocular pressure of the eye and provides nutrients for the avascular lens and cornea.

Vitreous humor is also known as aqueous humor or vitreous liquid. The word vitreous means transparent, and humor means liquid. It is a clear jelly-like substance that fills the inside of the eyeball. As a person ages, the vitreous humor becomes more liquid. It plays an important role in providing metabolic nutrient requirements of the lens, coordinating eye growth and providing support to the retina.

The cornea helps our eyes to focus light so we can see clearly. It is the transparent and front part of the human eye that covers the iris, anterior chamber, and pupil, along with the anterior chamber and lens.

The calcium-binding protein in smooth muscle is _______; while the calcium-binding protein in skeletal muscle is ______.
jarptica [38.1K]

Answer:

The calcium-binding protein in smooth muscle is __calmodulin_____; while the calcium binding protein in skeletal muscle is _troponin_____.

Explanation:

Proteins of union to the Ca2 + ion (calcium) are described, before their release in the cytosol in the muscle: the skeletal troponin participates, generating its contraction; and in the smooth one the same effect occurs with calmodulin (leading to the activation of a kinase that causes myosin phosphorylation).

Too Much Growth Hormone in a Child: Causes and Effects

Growth hormones are important influences on a child’s height and development. While many children are shorter or taller than others due to genetics, some children may have a growth disorder.

Growth disorders affect the speed at which a child develops. Height, weight, and sexual development are just a few features which can be affected. Diseases or problems with the pituitary gland are the leading causes of growth disorders.

The pituitary gland is responsible for producing growth hormones. Too few can lead to poor growth in children, while too many can lead to a condition called gigantism.
