The period of US history from the 1890s to the 1920s is usually referred to as the Progressive Era, an era of intense social and political reform aimed at making progress toward a better society.

Reformers during the Progressive Era sought to use the federal government's power to eliminate unethical and unfair business practices, reduce corruption, and mitigate the negative social effects of industrialization.

Workers' and consumers' rights were strengthened during the Progressive Era, and women finally gained the right to vote.

In the Progressive Era, people began to have more control over their government through the development of the recall, the initiative, and the referendum.

Why did Christianity spread quickly after the 4th century?
ryzh [129]

Answer:

Historians would rightly point to a single event in the 4th Century as the one that sealed Christianity’s fate. This was the conversion of the Roman Emperor Constantine. Once Christianity was adopted as the Emperor’s religion, it quickly developed a strong institutional structure – one that would out-live the Empire itself.

Hope this helps!
