That acquiring acceptance skills in mindfulness helps people recognise more good experiences in their daily lives, and whether removing acceptance training from mindfulness interventions will reduce intervention-related gains in positive affect.

Mindfulness meditation therapies, which teach people how to examine present-moment experiences through an accepting lens, have shown potential to improve happy feelings. Using a theory-based approach, we hypothesised that learning acceptance skills in mindfulness interventions help people notice more positive experiences in everyday life. We tested whether removing acceptance training from mindfulness interventions would eliminate intervention-related boosts in positive affect. Mindfulness meditation therapies, which teach people how to examine present-moment experiences through an accepting lens, have shown potential to improve happy feelings. Using a theory-based approach, we anticipated that gaining acceptance skills in mindfulness therapies would help people recognise more good experiences in everyday life.

Answer:

What theme does the motif of hands represent in the excerpt and throughout the story?

The theme the motif of hands represent is the indistinct line between dreams and reality and also the perpetual struggle against fate and the idea of justice .

Explanation:

The setting of the story is in northern Alabama during the Civil War, where both Union and Confederate soldiers rarely clashed but many Confederates hailed from.  The story was first published in 1890.

Some of the most important themes in the short story are the distortion of time, reality versus imagination and death which are explored with the sub-theme that war is unnatural namely the American Civil War. Ambrose Bierce liked irony and to have a twist at the end of his stories.

Parts of "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" are narrated from a strictly objective point of view by what is customarily called a third-person omniscient narrator, presumably the author Ambrose Bierce himself. The narrative remains in Farquhar's mind and his point of view almost to the end of the first section.

Do you think the United States should change the way it elects government officials to break the two-party system?
Trava [24]
Yes because if we look at the two party system there are lots of flaws in it essentially the minorities voices are less heard because if their values don’t align with anyone then they may choose to not vote which causes a low voter turnout since i’d say the two main parties have pretty big differences in views especially depending on the leader of the party, if they went to proportional representation like sweden everyone’s voices would be heard and it would be easier to make decisions and a higher voting turnout because more party’s to choose from so it would give plurality to the system.
